Vampires and Body Fluids. I was just wondering…

Because of repeated emergency website moves, and other unanticipated crises, all the blog posts I have ever written prior to March 2011 (when I went indie) have disappeared…or so I thought. Recently, I found an old archived backup of the site–see, I knew the anal habits of compulsively backing up *everything* would pay off.   After […]

A Man In Uniform…or not?

There’s a discussion happening on my Facebook page at the moment, about romantic suspense heroes–how many of them are uniforms, or ex-uniforms (military, police, etc). What’s your opinion? Have you come across a romantic suspense hero who didn’t have enforcement training of some type, who did carry the story convincingly? Talk about it on the Facebook page, here.

The 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day

I normally mark Remembrance Day each year, but this year is special. World War I, the Great War, was not the deadliest war in history. It wanted wasn’t even the second most deadliest. In a list of total casualties, World War I comes eighth! So why is so much fuss made about World War I?

Too Ugly To Show You.

Unlike most of the heroes in Romanceland, Daniel, the hero of Degree of Solitude, is a scarred “monster” that hides away in the wilds of Wales. When I explained his general appearance to Dar Albert, the cover artist who designs nearly all my covers, I knew it would be a challenge to make him both hideous

Now, we’re getting somewhere…!

I enjoy writing all my books, of course, but this one in particular made me look forward to getting up in the morning and heading for my desk. Although it was a logistical nightmare to plot and write! Now we’re getting further into the saga, many of the characters you’ve heard of before are starting

Somehow, I’ll Get This Into A Story!

I’m not entirely sure how I found this one.  Not sure how I’m going to use it, either. A Russian fisherman, Roman Fedortsov, has an Instagram account where he posts images of the creatures he and his fellow fisherman find in their nets.  They trawl far and deep, and some of the life in the

Day of the Dead

“Halloween” just slides off the tongue.  When you read the word or hear it, you think kids, silly costumes, pumpkins and candy.  Or, if you have my addiction, you think, “candy, candy, candy, candy, candy…!” The word Halloween, though, is a shortened form of “All Hallows’ Eve”.  That is, the evening before All Hallows’ Day…or,

Free Halloween Candy For You!

It’s Halloween! I can’t resist the fun of Halloween.  Even though I’ve learned to resist the copious quantities of sugar everywhere, the creepy supernatural origins of the day fit right in with paranormal themed…everything. I can’t hand out candy on the Interweb…not this century.  But I can hand out different goodies. A free short paranormal

There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

This is another of the guest posts I did for the launch of Bannockburn Binding, for which the original blog site has since disappeared.  As I’ve mentioned before, the timing is coincidental, but interesting, as I’m releasing two time travel stories early next month (here and here). — t. I’ve read any number of time travel novels.
