Holy, Moly, a Whole Year Has Gone By!
My usual practice is to not release a series boxed set until at least a year after the last book of the series was published.
This makes it fair for readers who are really keen, and buy every book as it comes out. There would be nothing more depressing than to buy the very last book in the series, then find if you had waited just a few weeks, you could’ve had the entire series at a discount!
So, hence, the year before I release series boxed sets.
On the other hand, I know there are huge numbers of readers who really like the boxed sets. There are some readers who actually wait until the boxed set is released before investing in.
To make sure that those readers are not disappointed, I actually put the release date for the boxed series sets on my calendar, so they were not forced to wait too long.
That’s why the post title!
I can’t believe that a year has gone by already since I put out the very last book in the Vistaria Has Fallen Series. It doesn’t seem like all that long ago since I was talking about geeks with tattoos and glasses, and how I couldn’t believe I had finally reached the end of the series.
The series has a long and slivered history. Do you remember Ellora’s Cave? That was where this series first came to life. The first three books were published with Ellora’s Cave, and were full on sexy times, meeting Ellora’s Cave’s strict sexual content requirements. (Yes, really.)
It took me several years to get the rights back on those books, but when I had them, I re-released the stories with new covers. I also wrote and released book 4 in the series, too.
The series kind of stalled after that, because erotic romance was being treated so badly by Amazon, that it wasn’t worth the risk of having all my books pushed behind the invisibility cloak they threw over any book they thought was too steamy for a general audience.
But I had this fantastic storyline going, that I was really enjoying writing. It was Mark who came up with the idea of releasing the entire series, and rewriting it for a general audience. I find it telling that it was not very difficult at all to remove the explicit sex scenes from the story. The books stood up quite nicely without them.
So in 2017 and 2018, I repackaged and re-released the entire series, which also involved writing the last two books. That was such great fun, because I have been looking forward to telling those two stories for a very long time. Years, in fact.
V-Day, the final book in the series, was released in November 2018.
So now, I am free to release the series boxed set, which will be out in February next year. That sounds like it’s a long time away, but it’s actually only three months!
