I *Do* Listen!

Happy 4th of July to all my USA readers!

I get a lot of emails from all my readers, asking a great many questions, and often registering your opinion about a great many things. Currently, everyone is a bit outraged about Amazon’s review policy, the language found in historical novels, and that the end of the Scandalous Scions series approaches. More on that last one in a second.

I also got an email from a reader in Australia, who also happens to be a personal friend, about Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. The TV series is a historical mystery series that is enormous fun — Miss Fisher is a flapper with enormous style, living in Melbourne, and solving mysteries that defeat her very favourite police detective. There’s hints of romance, lots of naughty shenanigans and the odd murder to solve.

I first heard about Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries when another reader recommended it to me, and promptly devoured all three seasons that currently exist.

That was a couple of years ago, and since then, I have been recommending the series to anyone who asks.

As that includes quite a few of you on this list, I thought I would pass along what my friend in Australia told me: There is a movie currently in production, and a spin-off TV series!

The movie is called Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears. The entire cast from the TV series returns for the movie. Wikipedia says the movie is due to be released in Australia sometime this year.

In addition, there is a spin-off series, Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, set in the 1960s and featuring Peregrine Fisher, the niece of Phryne Fisher from the original series.

I said I would get back to explaining about the end of the Scandalous Scions series.

The question was asked in the last Facebook Live session, and I answered there. As it’s not the first comment I’ve had about the end of the series, I thought I would explain here, too.

Yes, Scandalous Scions will be ending with book 13. I’ve just finished writing book 12 — more on that below.

The entire series is:

0.5 Rose of Ebony
1.0 Soul of Sin
2.0 Valor of Love
3.0 Marriage of Lies
4.0 Mask of Nobility
5.0 Law of Attraction
6.0 Veil of Honor
7.0 Season of Denial
8.0 Rules of Engagement
9.0 Degree of Solitude
10.0 Ashes of Pride
11.0 Risk of Ruin

12.0 Year of Folly
13.0 Queen of Hearts

Ashes of Pride was released last week, and Risk of Ruin will be released on August 15 (and is available for pre-order), then the last two by November this year.

What then?

Everyone has been expressing their regret that they won’t be able to visit the Great Family anymore. I’ve had a lot of people mention this is their absolute favourite series.

The first books in the series were set quite a few years before the last ones — Soul of Sin was set in 1858, while the last books are set in 1873-75! While the youngest scions of the family have been breaking their hearts and falling in love, the already committed couples have been busy having children!

In other words, there are a ton of potential spin-off series still to come. If you look at the front pages of the later books in the series, you’ll see a listing of family members and their children. That’s a lot of story possibilities there!

The new series will most likely move toward the late Victorian period – the 80s and 90s — and possibly into the Edwardian period (one of my favourites). I’ll have to do a lot of sorting out before I write the first spin-off series, and working out the relationships for future books.

Which reminds me of another question I’ve had lately: Yes, I had every single book and relationship in the Scandalous Scions series already planned out before I wrote the first book. I will do the same for the new series, too.

So there you have it. You won’t have to give up your favourite series. Not really.

And on to Book #12

Year of Folly has just become available for pre-order. Here’s the cover!

All Emma wants is to belong…

Emma, the youngest daughter of the great family, cannot find acceptance among the peers of society despite four Seasons of pleasing everyone.  She is banished to Inverness to avoid any scandal her anger might cause.  Even in Inverness, she is an outsider, for her cousins, including staid and boring Morgan Davies, spend all their days working and thinking, for heaven’s sake!

Having survived years of the family’s disasters, Morgan likes his quiet life and routine.  Emma’s excesses and plain speaking disrupt his days.  When Emma discovers politics and adopts as her cause women’s suffrage, the most outrageous scandal the family has yet to produce threatens to turn Morgan’s world inside out…

This book is the twelfth in the Scandalous Scions series, bringing together the members of three great families, to love and play under the gaze of the Victorian era’s moralistic, straight-laced society.

This story is part of the Scandalous Scions series:
0.5 Rose of Ebony
1.0 Soul of Sin
2.0 Valor of Love
3.0 Marriage of Lies
4.0 Mask of Nobility
5.0 Law of Attraction
6.0 Veil of Honor
7.0 Season of Denial
8.0 Rules of Engagement
9.0 Degree of Solitude
10.0 Ashes of Pride
11.0 Risk of Ruin

12.0 Year of Folly
13.0 Queen of Hearts

A Sexy Historical Romance

Praise for the Scandalous Scions series:

If you haven’t started this series, start right now and you will fall in love with this very unconventional family during a time when rules, etiquette and unwritten rules had to be followed or the lack of them would bring scandal and ruin to an entire family.

I love these books. Tracy creates these characters so well and with such care. I really recommend reading this series.

I am overwhelmed by how much I have enjoyed this series so far. It was not superficial fluff as I thought it might be when I began. Cooper-Posey books have touched on so many universal themes.

Her characters are admirable people who love their family and are capable of deep romantic love as well.

I just love this series and the books just keep getting better and better. This series takes us on a romp through historical times, which I love.

If you haven’t read this magnificent series you must do so now; you will love each story, be moved by each of them, fall in love with the heroines and heroes, you will cheer for them and just as loudly boo the villains.

Love this series and have bought them all.

This entire series is filled with so much love for each other and family, that there is no way you cannot be emotionally drawn into each story.
