When Elizabeth Gilbert had to sit down and write the next book after Eat, Pray, Love, (which is, <gasp> ten years old this year), she knew she would never top the success of the previous mega-best-selling title.
But she’s a writer. So she wrote another book.
While I can’t claim to have had the same huge success with Law of Attraction, there has been a lot of fuss about it. I’m getting a ton of email and the reviews are very nice, too.
So are the sales.
I’m lucky in a way, because I’m writing so far ahead of the release date of a book that the next book was already written by the time Law of Attraction started getting the early reviews.
Still, after all the “This is the very best book of the entire series!” feedback I’m getting, I do feel a teeny bit like Elizabeth Gilbert and wonder how everyone will feel about this one.
In case you’re curious, I actually lean toward Veil of Honor as the more interesting story. But I might feel that way about Book 7, when I get to write it, too.
We’ll see.
Last week in the newsletter I let everyone know that Book 6 of the series, Veil of Honor, was available for pre-order everywhere except Amazon, who won’t allow a book to be made available more than 90 days out from release date.
Now the book has by-passed that date and it is available at Amazon, too.

I love historical romances and this one filled all my likes, from a dashing, wonderful hero, a beautiful strong heroine, a love story to sigh over, side characters that are interesting, and funny, and move the story along.
I don’t often give books five stars, but I really enjoyed the mystery that puzzled all of the characters in this story.
I found the entire extended family intriguing because they, the women in particular, are very aware and careful of what society will think, yet they often have made choices that are deemed semi- scandalous.
A wonderful story set in the Victorian era of such strict social conventions and yet the main characters are shimmering with latent sexual tension. What a fabulous juxtaposition!
