If you haven’t caught up with the Netflix original series, Luke Cage, yet, then you might want to.  It ties up a few loose ends from both Daredevil and Jessica Jones.  There’s also hints that the combined Defenders series is coming up really soon.  The Defenders are, basically, the Avengers, but way more grounded and realistic….as realistic as superheroes can ever really get!

I found myself watching Mike Colter a lot on the way through the first season of Luke Cage.  He’s a lovely looking man, and suits the superhero role perfectly.  I first noticed him in The Good Wife (didn’t everyone?), and really enjoyed the dark edge…that voice of his!

Unfortunately, he’s on the side of the good guys in Luke Cage, so the menacing darkness is missing (alas!), but he more than makes up for it with a different sort of intensity.  Besides, he’s still got the voice.

The shoulders are quite nice, too….

I’m glad the producers didn’t go with some of their earlier casting choices.  It’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the role of Luke Cage.
