MashThe last mash of the year.

It’s been a while, so there’s a lot to draw your attention to.

Promoting Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Written by Women

This is technically a site for authors and writers, but I wanted to show it to you to demonstrate that equality for women is still a ways off when we have to group together to work against bias in something as free-spirited and creative as writing fiction!

But there you go.  Many men think women shouldn’t write SF, nor would they read a SF book written by a woman.  Those men include publishers and editors, and the judges of SF&F contests.

Apparently we should all stick with writing (and reading) woman stuff like…um, romance.

This is for the geek girls among you, who love inter-connectivity.  The post will walk you through setting up Calibre so that you can access it on the cloud, using your smartphone.  No more waiting to get home to grab that book you want to read that you missed synchronizing to your phone.

In my infinite spare time, this is something I intend to set up for myself.

Top 10 reasons why Lestat is the sexiest vampire ever (and why we’re thrilled he’s coming back)

What Plus-Size Clothes Actually Look Like On Plus-Size Women

You’d think that as we get away from size zero models with unnaturally elongated limbs, the air-brushing and fakery would disappear, too.

Not so much.

Even the plus-sized fashion photos are retouched and moulded…I think the most significant clean up is that any visible bulges or rolls seem to be smoothed away.  The model might be plus-sized, but her stomach is still flat and her ankles slender.

Very interesting.

That’s it until next year!

  1. I always love your Mash, but this one really caught my eye. Hope you and your Mom are having a great time in your “spare” time. May you and yours have a wonderfully, blessed and Merry Holiday.

    1. Thanks, Dina!

We are, indeed, having a great time. Tonight, we’re going to go check out Candy Cane Lane, which is a street in the suburbs where everyone in the street goings crazy with the Christmas lights on their houses. It’s quite stunning!
