It’s Remembrance Day, commemorating Armistice Day in 1918, the last day of World War I.
This time last year, on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, I pulled together a novella dealing with Armistice Day, and it was a marathon sprint to get it done in time…and I did it. I just can’t believe that it was a whole year ago!
I’m kinda glad I put myself through that squeeze, though. I love Time and Remembrance–not because it is a fantastic story (although the reviews seem to indicate that it’s not terrible, either!), but because I think I did a great job capturing the feeling and essence of those last desperate days of the war, and the essential horror of the global conflict.
The sad thing is, it wasn’t the “war to end all wars” at all. Another global war came along twenty years later.
Although now historians are saying that they really should be calling the two world wars merely Part 1 and Part 2 of a continuing conflict, as WWI directly led to WWII.
So far, we seem to have avoided rolling into WWIII….
