My Life – June 4, 2019

It seems like it’s been a very long while since I did a general round post like this.

In part that is because writing and releasing a book every four weeks tends to suck up all my attention.  And very soon, I’ll be writing and releasing a book every three weeks.

There’s also a lot of BookFunnel giveways going on that take up bandwidth, too.  As readers seem to really like the giveaways, I will be doing more of them for the foreseeable future.

But I thought I’d squeeze this one in today because, in part, it is my daughter’s birthday, and I find that her birthday is when I tend to look back into the past and reminisce.  My birthday, on the other hand, just fills me with horror.  (So does the mirror!)

So what’s happening to me right now?  Well, the biggest thing is that late July is the release of my official 100th book.

I’ve actually got far more than 100 titles published, but some of those are short stories, others are boxed sets and collections, and so on.  If you get rid of the duplicates, the shorts and the boxed sets, then book 100 will be Inside Man, which comes out on July 25th.

There is a lot of stuff going on after that, but for now, July 25th is far enough ahead for now.

I’ve become a very boring person these days.  I write.  I cook, clean (a little), and work to make sure I’m getting my words done every day.  Believe it or not, that is often a challenge for me.

Apparently, I’m in good company.  Some of the most famous and beloved writers, including Churchill, Mark Twain, Robert Heinlein (one of my writer heroes), and Charles Dickens, were known for keeping very regular daily routines, as unvarying as possible.  Why?  Because it let them focus all their energy upon the writing itself, which held enough drama to keep more than a few lives novel and interesting.

I have deliberately copied them, but I have found that in order to write as much as I do, I have to give up doing a lot of other things.

Personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I love being able to write so many books.  I’ll never run out of ideas, even if I could write twice as much as I do now (I wish!).

As the post 100th book events loom closer, I’ll let you know about them.  For now, though, watch this space.  There are some very cool things happening around the 100th book release.

Congratulations on your 100th book & your daughter’s birthday, so sorry I missed your last call for a chat on FB, the time was all wrong for me in the UK. Will catch up on You Tube though.

    Heather xx
