Friday’s Mash – August 17, 2012

Goodies I’ve found from chatting, cruising and working lately:

Interesting Sites

Investors fund mostly men, which is fine for women – A long and oddly-named article, which is so worth the read.  It’s long-ish, but don’t let that put you off.  Read it at lunchtime.  It will give you all sorts of ideas and links, too.  Basically, women just don’t need the same sort of career structure as men, so why do we keep being told we should be looking for the same career choices as men?

When Romance Novels Go TMI: Drenched in Squick-Inducing Seed  – You’ll either laugh or go squick.  Or both.

Gilbert Gottfried Reads Fifty Shades Of Grey.  Don’t watch this at work…or maybe, do watch this at work, but turn the volume down really low, and have the tissue box nearby, because you’ll totally ruin your mascara.

Housekeeping

– New blurb for Blood Stone.  Coming very soon!

– Updated the New Releases page.

Blast From The Past (from my archives)

Here, Take My Ballet Mistress. Please.  For writers.  Of any sort.

    1. Hi Kimberly!

Yep, it was my husband that pointed the clip out to me, too. And then made me watch it on the spot because he was dying to see my reaction to it. (jaw dropping…)

I keep hearing Gottfried’s voice in my head. I think I’m going to have to watch Alladin again. It’s only been years, and all I can hear is “I’m gonna die of NOT surprise!”. 🙂

  1. Re-TMI in Romance Novels – Ironically, the comments about Bared To You is actually what interested me enough to load it on the K. I’ve actually had it for awhile and wasn’t all that interested – yet I do seem to have a bit of a fascination with said subject – it may be squick for some people but it yanks my chain! To each their own. And I may very well pick up Conception because I can tell you that the other Sarah McCarty books I’ve read didn’t have that entertaining tidbit and I was kinda over her writing! So there! 🙂

    1. Hi Leilani:

That’s erotic romance for you! It caters for every taste. I did say the article would provoke a range of reactions, and yours is definitely one of them. The success of Bared To You bears out the proof that yours is not a minority reaction at all.

I found it an interesting article — and it was amusingly written. Laughter always helps, I find, when it comes to seeing things from another perspective. Don’t you?

      Cheers,

      Tracy

      1. Tracy, I’ve definitely come to the conclusion to try very hard not to judge (as long as it’s not illegal) – the kinks I’ve uncovered about myself have been kind of shocking. It was an amusing article. I belong to some GR groups that I feel comfortable talking about things like this and others that I keep my lip zipped.

Your blog is always entertaining. 🙂
