Who's Sexier? Werewolves or Vampires? Tielle St. Clare Picks Up the Challenge

Today we have with us Tielle St. Clare, Ellora’s Cave author, who is marking the release of her new novel, Jackson’s Rise.  Not at all coincidentally, the book is about shapeshifters, which originally made me prick up my ears.  After my rant about werewolves not being sexy, I thought it would be interesting to hear the other side of the argument from someone who believes, and invited Tielle to step into the ring and give us her opinion.

Whom do you think are sexier?  Werewolves or vampires?  Why?

Oooh, hard question.  Lately, I’ve been fascinated by werewolves so I’ll go with them.  I think werewolves are sexy because of the inner animal.  The wolf has basic instincts that need to be satisfied:  food, warmth, sex.  Plus, wolves are pack animals so there’s an innate dominance in the Alpha males. They are true Alphas.

I’ve written a few vampire romances and I have fondness for vamps but lately they’ve been feeling very cold to me.   And I read your blog about werewolves not being sexy and I think the whole bone breaking/turning furry thing just makes them stronger in my opinion.

What is the most unsexy thing you see on the streets, these days, as far as fashions and trends go?  (male or female)

Still hate the baggy pants thing.  Young men look like their pants are falling down.  Give me a nice pair of jeans that shows the butt, and I’m there.

Your most favourite, pulse-pausing hero in film or in novels?  What did he do that stopped your pulse?

Zsadist, from J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood (used to be Phury but he’s lost for me now).  Z is just so on the edge of being insane, not even wanting to come back to humanity.  He’s the perfect tortured hero and yet when his woman is in danger, he goes into full-on protection mode.

Why do you think vampires are so sexy?

They usually have a sophistication that makes them sexy.  And they’re cool.

Your favourite paranormal romance author?

J.R. Ward, the first four books of the Black Dagger Brotherhood are incredible.  I also love the light paranormal books by Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz. I’m a bit of a traditionalist.

Your favourite urban fantasy author?

Don’t know that I have one. I’ve read a bit of Kelley Armstrong and like her stuff.

What are you currently reading?

Amazonia by James Rollins.

What will you be reading next?

Bridegroom by Linda Lael Miller (going back to my romance roots).

Tell us about your book.

Jackson’s Rise is a werewolf erotic romance. Jackson gets worried about his twin and flies to Las Vegas to check on him. Once there he gets mixed up in a murder investigation and falls in love with a Vegas show girl and a male Cat shapeshifter.  It’s good fun and the second hero is very sexy.

The fun thing about this book is I wrote Jackson’s Rise and Maxwell’s Fall at the same time so the books intertwine, with characters and phone calls appearing in both books.   A phone call will occur in Max’s book and then you’ll get the other end of the conversation in Jackson’s book.  The books stand alone as individual titles.

Jackson’s Rise is the 4^th book in my werewolf series. All of them are M-M-F/ménage books.

From Jackson’s Rise…set up: the jokes about granny panties run through the story…

“You can’t be serious.” Dani stared at Jackson but he didn’t move, didn’t react. Didn’t laugh and say it was all a joke. “Have you seen what I’m wearing?” She pointed to the skimpy outfit hanging on her closet door. There wasn’t much to it. The dress was fire engine red, glittered and would cover her ass but just barely. The top was a halter top that dipped low between her breasts. Her breasts would be free to sway and move with every step she took. Since they were going to this event as an upscale party crowd, the outfit was perfect, sexy and exotic.

Which made Jackson’s request even more insane.

“You want me to wear granny panties underneath that outfit?”

“Yes.”

She looked at the underwear Jackson held in his hands. They were pale yellow and almost full briefs. The legs were cut a little high but the waistband would land right at her waist and everything would be fully covered. What was sexy about these?

“They aren’t even mine.” At least she didn’t think she had anything that ugly in her drawers.

“Yes they are. I told you I would replace the ones from last night.”

She squinted and glared. “And you bought granny panties?”

He nodded.

“Jackson…”

Reign stepped out of the bathroom rubbing his hair dry with a towel. Another towel hung low around his waist, leaving his chest bare and so delectable she wanted to run her tongue across the distinct lines of his muscles.

“You’re supposed to be getting dressed.”

Surely Reign would be an ally in this.

“Reign, you decide. Jackson wants me to wear those—“ She pointed to the frumpy yellow underpants. “When we go out tonight.” Knowing she had to tip the scales in her favor, she picked up the pair of panties she’d been planning to wear. “I want to wear these.” She stretched the waistband and showed the sexy lace confection. Barely there, the panties hung on her hips and were cut high, leaving large amounts of skin uncovered.

Reign’s eyes tightened and he looked at both pairs of underwear. Then he looked at her. “Are you planning on showing anyone your panties tonight?”

She scoffed. “No.”

The eyebrows on both men rose and they stared pointedly at her.

“Well, except for you two.”

“Wear those.” He nodded to the pair Jackson was holding. Dani felt her mouth drop open.
