I Survived the Killer Deadline!
I am so sleep deprived right now the letters on the screen keep jumping around, and I have to stop and focus to get them to line up.
The title I put on the book was so bad I’m not even going to announce it publically because I know that Ellora’s Cave will ask me to change it. But that’s okay. I got the book turned into them, and that’s what counts. Titles can be changed. By the time it got to thinking up titles, I was not exactly firing on any sort of cylinders at all.
I hope I go a long, long time before I have to do another binge-writing session like that again.
Gimme a few hours, some more caffeine and some solid food (I’m also really deprived of good, decent food, too), and I’ll sort out the winners of the various contests, get the newsletter out, and start behaving like a normal human being…well, as close to normal as I get, anyway. :)
Have you have ever crammed for something with a deadline that you just had to hit, then had to try to function the next day like a normal person? Any interesting near-misses? Out-of-body moments? (College and chemicals don’t count here — too common!)

Yay, you!!! I used to pull all-nighters semi-regularly in college, with the help of my good friend, Pepsi (I don’t think Red Bull even existed yet!) My most recent was a year or so ago, when I was proofreading a book for a friend. It took several days of late nights and an all-nighter, after which I felt like a complete zombie. It was hard to pull myself together enough to pack the kids’ lunches! Hope you get a nap in, Tracy!
I am SO looking forward to sleep tonight!! I’m really trying to pull the newsletter together here. Fun stuff! :)
