Hero Moment of the Week – Oded Fehr ~Sigh~
I keep meaning to get away from film heroes and actually feature a hero from a book, seeing as I write books. Seems simple, but I keep recalling yummy heroes from films and television and just have to rush to remind you guys about them.
That’s what happened this weekend.
My daughter, Kate, and I rarely agree about heroes. Remember Ross from Friends and his laminated card of five “free” famous people that he could sleep with if he ever met them (and could convince them to sleep with him, I hasten to add)? He spent a week swapping out that final list of five, then met Isabella Rosellini, who he’d just bumped off the list, and tried to hit on her?
Kate and I have our own differences of opinion on our top five list. I h
ave mumble mumble [Antonio Banderas] mumble a few names on my list, and she has a whole different set of names on hers, including the likes of Johnny Depp, etc. (Although he’s incredibly cute in Chocolate with that Irish accent, I must say.)
But when it comes to Oded Fehr, we’re firmly in agreement. We watch The Mummy and The Mummy II just for him. Oh, Brendan Fras
er is cute ‘n all, in a WASPy sort of way, but ohmigoodness, Oded Fehr has the dark ‘n dangerous thing going for him…and that voice! He does all the voice overs for both movies, and Kate and I could listen to that voice alone. Gives us shivers.
Neither of us can understand why he hasn’t really broken through into major star status, unless its a racial thing. Or perhaps it’s just because he’s been in the wrong place at the wrong time…who knows. As far as we’re concerned, it’s a damn shame. He’s got the looks, the voice, as so far as we can figure, he can act just fine (and does it really matter? If Nicholas Cage can get star roles with his acting ability? With all due apologies to Nick Cage fans out there, but he really isn’t hasn’t got the biggest range.)
So we’re going on a hunt to dig up movies he’s appeared in, just to see how he’s fared in those. That’s our mission this season. We had such fun this weekend dusting off The Mummy I & II and reacquainting ourselves with his velvet voice and dark-eyed stare!
I went on a search for some updated images of him…and that boy has aged very well indeed.

Oh yeah, he definitely makes my top 5 list. Have you heard anything about a tv series called, The Cure, that he is supposed to be in? All I could get was this:
The Cure
Disgusted with the way his pharmaceutical company does business, a corporate executive quits and goes to work raising money for a grassroots organization that boldly and sometimes illegally cuts through bureaucratic red tape to obtain miracle cures.
.
Really, Cathy? It doesn’t show up on IMDB at all under his name. Where did you get that description? Can you give me the URL? I’m curious!
Oh man! He’s a slice of heaven isn’t he? *sigh* What a MAN!!! YUM!!!
He’s been in a couple of movies that I’ve seen… Resident Evil Apocalypse, Resident Evil Extinction, Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigelo, and he does a bit of a guest spot on Deuce Bigelow : European Gigelo…but those are the only ones that I know of…I’ll have to hunt up some more if I can…
See ya later mate…
Happy Reading!!!
Oh my yes!!
I completely agree with your pick. He’s the reason I watch The Mummy movies!! LOL! The man is bea-u-t-ful!!
Uhuh, ain’t he?
Kate and I are in complete agreement on this one. We both sit and sigh and then giggle stupidly when he does the voice over on The Mummy :) And when he does his heroic bits in the movies we both sit forward…it’s quite ridiculous! But he really is just so damn gorgeous.
I think Oded is hot; especially when his hair is long.
drooolllll
Squee!!! Well that was totally not what I expected when I checked this blog at lunch, but day-um, that sure as heck brightened up an otherwise dreary day! I totally agree with you ladies, that dude is hotter than hot.
Hmmm, maybe its time for a Mummy marathon…
And amen on that Nicholas Cage thing.
Colleen
Hi Colleen! Long time no see!
How’s the horses? And how’s the writing coming along?
Tracy – never posted on a blog before, but when I saw Oded’s name come up I just had to add my two cents. Hot! And How! Hemdid two seasons of Sleeper Cell on Showtime and he’s had a number of short lived series – UC/Undercover and Presidio Med – and a few guest appearances – Charmed, Eleventh Hour, Burn Notice and most recently Medium, but he hasn’t made the jump to A-list yet. He was signed on to do a guest shot on Three Rivers, but it looks like that show has had it’s plug pulled. Too bad, but with looks and talent like his, it’s only a matter of time. I’d surely love to see a WHOLE lot more of him.
All the best – Fran
Well, I’m glad you chose to comment on mine, Fran.
You have to agree that Oded is worth it, no? It would be really nice to see him make that jump to the A-list. I really don’t understand why he hasn’t. With his following (and the traffic my post has generated indicated he really has got the following) he could easily make the grade.
Cheers,
Tracy
Gah! I had a comment worthing of posting but forgot some information and when I clicked back, alas all was lost.
Erm, trying to recall my prattling – Fehr fan since the TM, fell in love with that tall, mysterious desert warrior with a voice like deep, rich honey..followed him through all of his movies from Deuce to RE 1 & 2, and TV shows. Sad about Three Rivers being cancelled so it would seem that Oded can’t seem to catch a break.
What a delight to read this blog, and of course when I have more time, I must come back and explore.
*waves to Fran*
Cheers! ^_^
Hi Mommints — thanks for the information.
It seems Mr. Fehr really can’t catch that break, which is a pity. It sounds like there would be fans lining up around the block to support any film he was in.
Tracy.
YUM! I could just spread the man on a cracker. I have just watched The Mummy 1 & 2. He’s my hero.
Hi Mary!
He’s quite something, isn’t he?
Cheers,
Tracy
