Does Reading Erotic Romance Improve Your Sex Life? Tell Me To Win.
Romance novels sometimes threaten the male population. They feel that women get too many bad ideas about an idealized romantic relationship that men can’t live up to. I spoke about this when Alan Elsner jumped up and down about it recently.
Erotic romance novels further polarize the population.
Yet there are some strong positive influences that come from reading erotic romance novels, and the most obvious one is the improvement it can have on your sex life, your libido, and your whole sensual outlook in general.
I tripped over a post written on Maggie Robinson’s blog, way back in 2007, here, where she opened up the floor to talked about the effect “straight” romances had had on women’s romantic lives. Now, her blog is pretty low on traffic according to Alexa, yet the response was quite staggering nonetheless. And she’s just talking about normal romance.
What sort of effect does erotic romance have on one’s sex life and romantic life, then?
I know what erotic romance has done for mine. I’d like to find out if I’m a statistic or not, so I’m offering an inducement for you to share your stories with me. Let’s compare notes. Tell me your stories as much as you’re comfortable sharing, and at the end of January, I’ll give two random commentors a complete set of Destiny’s Trinities — all three novellas.

I love reading romance novels! Because of them, I was able to ask my boyfriend to try different things with me. If you read my blog you’ll see what I mean.
Reading romance novels exposes you to different sexual activities which you may want to try with your SO. It also gives you something to fantasize about. My boyfriend encourages me to read romance novels and then tell him what I liked/didn’t like about it.
Oh yeah, it’s definitely spiced up mine, especially when we discovered that we enjoyed reading sections out loud. It’s especially sexy when my hubby does the reading, me I am a bit self conscious, but his voice just does it for me anyway, and he has no problem getting through a wonderfully erotic paragraph or two.
I have mentioned this fun post and the giveaway on my blog. I found out because I was reading Beth´s Acceptance and shared a sexy scene from it on my blog today and wanted to link to your website. I hope that´s okay?
BTW Reading erotic romance has definitely improved my sex life! My hubby didn´t know what hit him, LOL!
Of course! The more the merrier!

Reading “smut” or as I correct my husband every time “erotic literature” :) – has definitely improved our sex life. He says he likes how excited I am after I’ve read something to rev up my engines and he enjoys the aftereffects.
It definitely helps! It makes you more creative and open-minded to try new things. Just reading it gets you ready for anything!
I think that in general, reading romances has only been good for my real-life romance–it reminds me what a good thing I have, and gives me an openness (and some inspiration!) for expressing my uh… appreciation :)
Funny, I actually wrote a column about this very same thing. I was AMAZED at how many women (and men) actually use these types of novels to spice up their romance. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I think it does. I’ve picked up LOTS of tips by reading Erotic Romances!
Hi Tracey — Thanks for your comment!

This is way TMI (Too much info) which is why I’m using my moniker for this comment, lol. I’d like to think that I’ve always been…creative. Erotic romance doesn’t furnish me with new ideas, it just makes me attack my husband at the oddest times. (ROFL)
LOL!!! – Witchy, my husband read Red Leopard and ever since then has been hell bent on buying a Jeep, even though he hates open-top vehicles with a passion!
