More Day Job Options For Anchored Authors
FloridaTrend.com has an article, “Four-Day Work Week,” that encourages small business owners to consider re-structuring their employees’ work weeks into 4 x 10 hour work days, instead of 5 x 8 hour days.
I’d heard of the four-day work week before, but only in passing. This article speaks of it as becoming a new trend in employment, and if they’re encouraging small businesses to consider the idea, then the time might be drawing near for you to speak to your own employer about changing your own work week to a four-day one.
Do read the article. It is a succinct delineation of the pros and cons of the four-day week that you can use as ammunition when you speak to your employer.
Some types of work just aren’t suited to the arrangement…but a surprising number of jobs could be rearranged quite happily.
The advantages of a four-day week for anchored authors is obvious: If you can keep the adjustments to your weekly schedule to a minimum, then you’ll end up with a whole day in every week to use as you see fit…and that’s a whole pile of extra manuscript pages.
PS:
Here’s a few people who desparately need to switch to the four-day work week…or find another day job. — t.
